Composer

About:

Edric Saphire is a composer at the New England Conservatory of Music, studying with Sid Richardson. He has been composing since he was nine years old, and has had works commissioned by conductors such as Michael Francis and Jeffrey Malecki. Among notable original works, his “Bassoon Sextet in B-flat major” for bassoon, string quartet, and piano was premiered at the Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Center by pianist Anne-Marie McDermott and principal musicians of the San Diego Symphony. His "New World Fanfare", already performed on several stages, was performed at Balboa Park's Spreckels Organ Pavilion by the San Diego Summer Winds under the baton of University of San Diego music director Dr. Jeffrey Malecki. His Pierrot Ensemble “Given in Thanks” and its benefit performance earned him his Eagle Scout Rank. Recently, he was asked to complete additional movements of Gustav Mahler’s unfinished Piano Quartet by the Komponisten-Quartier museum in Hamburg, Germany. His work is currently included in the museum’s “Hamburger Meister Contemporary” exhibit of living composers in Hamburg, where it can be heard inside the Brahms Museum.
